My little brother got married to the love of his life this year -and I got to photograph it.
James and Edna's love story isn't something grand and dramatic, but sweet and full of tenderness and patience - much like the couple themselves. How, if they lived in entirely different countries, did they meet? I'm glad you asked!
Edna's parents are long time friends of my grandparents. Although James and Edna had grown up half the world apart, they'd known about each other since they were children. Despite talking on and off, they didn't meet in person until a few years ago, when James went to India with my younger sisters to attend a friend's wedding. (I'm pretty sure he was 1000% in love with her by the end of that trip - and really, she's so sweet it would be hard not to be!)
Both James and Edna are quiet, listen more than they talk, and tend to be the calm in any room full of energetic people. Get them alone together, though, and a mischievous glint will often spark in Edna's eyes. She sweetly teases James and he adoringly teases right back- and they giggle like children. (I enjoy every minute of it!)
Over the last few years, they've endured the difficulties of a long distance relationship, the emotional ups and downs of waiting on government approval after their engagement, and the complete and total whirlwind of planning an entire wedding in less than 8 weeks. (I'm not crying, you're crying!)
So maybe James is taller than me now - and has been since we were teens - but he will always be my little brother and I'm so happy to now, finally, be able to call Edna my sister.
