What do you get when you combine two musicians with a love for farm animals? Endless renditions of "Old MacDonald"! (Or in Jim's version, "Old MacKaelah"). Dad jokes aside, this was a session-packed weekend that I've been looking forward to because I got to photograph not one, but two of my sweet Shanle Couples and their growing families - one of them being Kaelah & Jim!
You'll rarely meet a person with a kinder heart towards animals than Kaelah or Jim. Kaelah's sweet cow, Maybelline, could not have been more excited to see her! She trotted over, tail swinging with happiness, and offered her neck for scratches from her favorite person. Ferdinand grazed in the distance with the stoic grumpiness that you would expect from a disinterested young bull.

After giving her suitable neck scratches and nose rubs, Maybelline begrudgingly allowed to start our session. I've written before on the fascination of boys with cows and little J was no different! His delight in meeting the cows through the gate was only dampened by the disgust of having Maybelline enthusiastically lick his arm in a sticky cow kiss.
Overall, this warm summer session was full of laughter and we were fully entertained by little J's antics with the cows. Sessions with Kaelah and Jim are always something of an adventure, in one way or another. I'm so looking forward to the next time we see each other!
