I now firmly believe that you should always ask little boys to show you their 'cow smile'.

Before I explain why (or what a 'cow smile' is), let me tell you a little about this sweet family! I've had the honor of helping Kara and Caleb document their family story since the very beginning, including their wedding. They even flew me to India to photograph their Engagement Ceremony back in 2019! I've loved watching them grow their family over the years!

Any little boy who has had the opportunity to be around cows in person is very likely to immediately become obsessed or at the very least extremely enthusiastic.

When I'm up in South Carolina visiting family, I will often tack on an extra day or two and offer special sessions to my friends, family, and past clients that live in the area. This particular August weekend, I made a special trip to photograph sessions for Kara and Caleb and a few other family members at a private estate - which just so happened to include cows!

Any little boy who has had the opportunity to be around cows in person is very likely to immediately become obsessed or at the very least extremely enthusiastic. In an effort to keep D. engaged, I asked him if he could show me his 'cow smile'. (A bit of a random and silly thing for an adult to ask for, I know, but you do what you have to do when it comes to littles that would rather be doing anything but taking photos. )

Little D. scrunched up his nose, squeezed his eyes shut, and put on his cheesiest grin - my heart melted into a puddle!

I absolutely loved photographing Kara, Caleb, and little D for Kara's maternity session this summer! I can't wait until their sweet new baby arrives and I'm able to make a trip back for their Newborn session, Lord willing! (Also, is there anything better than the smell of a newborn?? Baking cookies might come close, but I don't think there is!)
